My name is Lisa Schuller, and by way of introduction, I’ll give my most rewarding career position first – 12 years as a classroom teacher in Arkansas. I taught middle and high school English, writing skills, journalism, and speech to students of varied abilities. It was in the classroom that I took note of students who displayed learning difficulties, which required me, as the instructor, to rely on resources to support these students’ needs. I am excited now to work in the role of a resource to schools, teachers, and students to address these needs.

After fulfilling duties as an instructional facilitator at the high school level, I moved into a central office position, Federal Programs Coordinator/Director of Instruction, while completing work to become a building level administrator. The second semester of this same school year I served as interim principal at the high school, and later on, I served two years as an elementary principal.

On July 1 of this year, beginning my 17th year in education, I began my new position with the DeQueen Mena Education Service Cooperative as Literacy Specialist. I am excited to work with educators to prepare our students for the future.

Away from work I love spending time with my two delightful grandchildren, Cami and Eli. I am enthused about traveling and have been fortunate to travel and learn abroad on several occasions. I’ve spent time in Europe, Asia, and my favorite, Africa. These experiences I’ve shared with students and colleagues, and I’ve enriched the knowledge base of anyone who will listen! I also enjoy landscaping and exploring places in Arkansas.
